WHY WE LIKE IT: Perched in the coastal hills of Santa Cruz, the Trout Gulch Vineyard offers an ideal setting for Chardonnay destined for sparkling wine. The vines are farmed by the Alfaro family, and we’re honored they gave us the opportunity to work with them. Just a few miles from the Pacific, the vineyard is enveloped in cool ocean breezes and morning fog, creating a long, gentle growing season that preserves bright acidity and delicate flavor. At elevations between 600 and 800 feet, the vines sit above the fog line in loamy soils that lend purity and minerality. The result is a sparkling wine with vibrant tension, coastal energy, and refined elegance—true to its cool-climate origins.
