2022 “Old Grammar” Gimelli Vineyard Zinfandel

This wine club exclusive is made from 120 year old vines in San Benito County. The Gimelli Vineyard is planted in Cienega Valley near the San Andreas Fault. This expression of Zinfandel is restrained and bright, exhibiting the fresh side of the grape. 

Winemaking

The wine was picked at 23 brix. It was fermented in open top with 10% whole clusters in stainless steel with daily pump overs and aged in neutral oak barrel for 8 months. We produced 25 cases.

Tastes like cranberry, dried plum, pepper, rose hip. Recommended pairing: barbecue

Why We Like It

Zinfandel is a grape that holds it acidity fairly well, allowing us to make a style of wine full of bright red fruit character that's versatile at the table.
