Vineyards:
Manchester Ridge Vineyard is perched at 2,000 feet of elevation just west of Anderson Valley along the Pacific Ocean. It’s located at the top of the Pacific Coast mountain range, just above the fog line. There is a notable maritime influence and Goldridge soils that impart a striking tension and mineral quality to wines grown there.
Winemaking:
The grapes were fermented in stainless steel and aged for 4 months in neutral French oak. Aged 15 months in bottle before being disgorged by hand. Extra Brut (2 grams residual sugar). We chose to showcase this Chardonnay vineyard for our Blanc de Blancs because of its singular character. It tastes fresh, but also displays an impressive depth of flavor and texture. We produced 120 cases.
Tasting Notes:
Meyer Lemon, Yellow Apple, Chalk, Toasted Almond. Recommended pairing: fried chicken, raw oysters, spicy curry.
Why We Like It:
Let’s Get Lost is one of our favorite documentaries, and it’s about one of our favorite musicians: Chet Baker. Chet played the trumpet with a lyrical quality like no other. He was a troubled soul who made beautiful music. Manchester Ridge seems to possess a similar quality; it’s a tortured landscape that produces fruit of unparalleled grace and finesse.
