2021 Stranger Than Paradise
VINEYARDS: Witters Vineyard (El Dorado), Fox Creek Vineyard (Carmel Valley), Enz Vineyard (Lime Kiln Valley)
78% Pinot Noir, 22% Gamay Noir
WINEMAKING: The grapes were harvested between 19 and 20 brix, settled overnight and fermented in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak barrels. The Enz Pinot Noir was processed 100% whole cluster as a red wine. The Fox Creek Pinot was direct pressed as a Blanc de Noirs. The Witters Gamay was direct pressed and fermented as a Blanc de Noirs. The wines were aged separately for 6 months in barrel before blending. The wine was then aged in bottle for an additional 15 months before disgorging by hand. 12.6% Alc./Vol. Zero dosage.
TASTING NOTES: Hibiscus, Pomegranate, Blood Orange
WHY WE LIKE IT: We started making this wine in 2020 as our Californian take on Lambrusco: an unfussy, juicy style of sparkling wine that tastes good with just about any type of food or occasion.
