2021 Always for Pleasure, Sparkling Chenin Blanc

VINEYARD: 85% Chenin Blanc / 15% Chardonnay from Massa Estate (Carmel Valley). 40-year-old vines, dry-farmed, certified organic, grown at 1500 feet above sea level.

WINEMAKING: The grapes were fermented and aged in a combination of stainless steel and neutral French oak barrels for 6 months. It was then aged an additional 6 months in bottle before being disgorged by hand at our winery. No part of our process is automated or outsourced to another facility. No dosage was added. We produced 12 barrels. 

WHY WE LIKE IT: Always For Pleasure is a film by Les Blank (one of our favorite filmmakers, who lived in Berkeley for 30 years). It's a fitting name for this hedonistic style of sparkling chenin from one of our favorite vineyards in Carmel. 

TASTING NOTES: White nectarine, pear, lemon peel.
